Time uses a picture of a young woman taking a selfie to demonstrate how fucked up our generation is

Why not use a picture of a 50 year old white male banker masturbating with mortgage papers into the mouth of a senator

I liked a page on Facebook called videogamemes a couple of days ago because I like funny pictures relevant to my interests as a gamer, and it did have a few so all was well

But looking tonight I’ve seen a post relating to the size of female character’s breasts and how they’re always big and apparently that’s a good thing

You can imagine the comments

I see that kind of obvious sexism all the time now that I look for it but I’m always surprised and a little disappointed every single time

I just hate that if I’m not totally oblivious of that kind of thing all the time i am constantly aware that there’s a huge portion of the gaming community that does its utmost to alienate me and other girls like me from a hobby that we, for the most part, really enjoy.

I guess I’m just really sick of having to continually fight my corner and justify myself to men who think that I can’t possibly be interested in the things that I am

And as much as I enjoy some, if not probably most, of the content on the page, that’s just really spoiled it for me, and I’m not sure whether I could carry on having it on my Facebook where it just reminds me how sexist about 99% of the male gaming community is

I know it sounds like I’ve kicked up a lot of fuss over something simple like a Facebook page, but it’s the fact that something as simple as a Facebook page can be sexist and reach to all those people, and it just normalizes sexist jokes/thoughts/actions for some and validates those things for others and it’s just really toxic

i find it funny how women are simultaneously encouraged by society to look sexy for men but when they do they’re criticised for it
or how the idea that perhaps you want to just look sexy for yourself or for any other reason that doesn’t include men is completely preposterous
male narcissism, gross

Ya know what else? Sometimes women wear certain clothes to get the attention of ONE particular person and/or to look hot for them, but the narcissism of random men turns it into “she wouldn’t dress like that unless she wants *me* to look.” No, dude, it’s not about you.

We understand that a small number of US fans have received in error their DVD edition of Series 7 Part 2 early. We respectfully ask those fans not to divulge information or post content publicly so that fellow fans who have yet to see the episodes do not have their viewing pleasure ruined.

If everyone keeps the secrets safe until next Saturday we will release a special new clip featuring material of the Tenth AND Eleventh Doctor!

“What people don’t understand is when we say “Teach men not to rape,” we’re not talking about telling them not to jump out of the bushes in a ski mask and grab the nearest female. We’re talking about the way we teach boys that masculinity is measured by power over others, and that they aren’t men unless they “get some.” We’re talking about teaching men (and women) that it’s not okay to laugh at jokes about rape and abuse. We’re talking about telling men that a lack of “No” doesn’t mean “Yes,” that if a woman is too drunk to consent they shouldn’t touch her, that dating someone - or even being married to someone - does not mean automatic consent. We’re talking about teaching boys to pay attention to the girl they’re with, and if she looks uncomfortable to stop and ask if she’s okay, because sometimes girls don’t know how to say stop in a situation like that. We’re talking about how women have the right to change their mind. Even if she’s been saying yes all night, if she says no, that’s it. It’s over. That’s what we mean when we say “Teach men not to rape.”
